The Curiosity Shop of Living Things

Rare plants & quiet little wonders.

PlantBones is a small, privately owned shop based in Mount Dora, Florida, run by people with a real passion for plants. We spend our time finding, growing, and selling some of the most interesting houseplants we can get our hands on, from rare Anthuriums and Philodendrons to fresh tissue cultures and unusual variegated varieties you won't see on every windowsill.

We also handcraft our own mini terrariums: tiny living worlds built from moss, stone, raw gems, and ethically sourced bones. Alongside those, we make and gather other oddities and curiosities for collectors who like their plants with a little extra character.

More than anything, we care about good plants and good people. Whether you are a seasoned collector or bringing home your very first leaf, we want you to get healthy plants, the friendliest service we can offer, and maybe a new friend along the way.

This Month's Pick

Queen Anthurium

Anthurium warocqueanum

A true collector's centerpiece. The Queen grows long, velvety dark-green leaves veined in silver that can stretch several feet as the plant matures. She loves high humidity and bright, gentle shade, and rewards patient growers with some of the most dramatic foliage in the aroid world.

What plant people are saying

I received a very beautiful musa from Plant Bones. It came in great condition and was packed very carefully. I’m super pleased and excited to see it grow!

The rare Anthurium I ordered was healthier than plants I have paid double for elsewhere. You can tell these are grown by people who actually love them.

Ordering felt like talking to a friend who happens to know everything about plants. They helped me pick something perfect for my low light apartment.

Fun Plant Fact

There is a flower called the skeleton flower whose white petals turn completely clear in the rain, like panes of glass, then fade back to white as they dry.

Some philodendrons heat their own flowers, warming the bloom well above the air around it to spread scent and draw in the beetles that pollinate them.

Young Swiss cheese plants crawl toward the darkest spot they can find, not the light, because in the rainforest the deepest shadow marks the trunk of a tree to climb.
